Each chosen for their specific skin benefits

Our soap is made from natural, sustainable ingredients and handmade, hand cut and hand wrapped on a small scale. We do not use any synthetic ingredients such as SLS, SLES, propylene glycol, petrochemicals or parabens, nor do we use artificial colours or fragrances. If we want to try to give a pinkish tinge to our Rose Geranium soap we add rosehip and hibiscus flowers to the mix. Dried mint leaves are used to give a green tone to our Gardener’s soap and so on. We make no apologies for the natural, subdued colours present in our soap range – this is nature’s colour palette. The fragrances in our soaps are all as a result of 100% pure essential oils and the soaps with exfoliating properties are created using natural ground pumice or ground oatmeal. We are proud of our ingredients and plainly list them both on this site and on our products.

With the exception of the Welsh honey present in our Lemongrass, Honey and Oatmeal soap, all our ingredients are 100% plant based. There are no genetically modified ingredients and we are against animal testing… we have friends and family for that!

Oils that care for your skin and make great soap

Our soaps are made from a combination of specially selected saponified oils that produce a long lasting, creamy bar with a great lather that will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. Olive Oil is a gentle moisturiser. It attracts external moisture and holds it close to the skin where it forms a breathable film to prevent loss of internal moisture. It works in harmony with your skin and does not block its natural functions. It is also packed with vitamins, minerals and proteins. Sustainable Palm Oil combined as it appears in our soaps, helps make a hard, long-lasting bar of soap, it cleanses well and is mild on your skin. Coconut Oil brings a fluffy lather and also has moisturising qualities whilst Sweet Almond Oil is an excellent emollient, known to soften, soothe and condition skin. Lastly, we add Sunflower Oil. This wholesome ingredient is full of vitamins and minerals and is great for all skin types.

The importance of sustainable palm oil

The palm tree grows across the equatorial regions of the world, from places like Malaysia and Columbia to West Africa. The Palm Oil is produced from the flesh of the palm fruit and is a highly saturated oil due to its palmitic acid content. Palm oil is a popular choice for soap makers as it saponifies easily and it has a high vitamin E content. There have been huge concerns about the devastating effects palm plantations are having on ancient forests and endangered species, Malaysia in particular (stimulating the formation of Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil in 2004).  Our organic palm oil is sourced from sustainable, eco-friendly crop plantations in Columbia who are signed up to RSPO.
